A few posts back I loaded some pictures of our house plans.

We are wanting a more rustic appeal to our house. We came up with a few ideas and thought it might be cool to do cedar shakes on the gables along with the siding and rock to break things up a bit.We had a few pictures in mind...
But the more we thought about it, the more we were certain that we wouldn't get the same look.
All the ideas we had have a smaller portion of shakes in relation to the rest of the rock and siding.
So with how big our gables are it would be a different look than what we are wanting.
There would be a LOT of shakes to a little siding and a little rock.
So we started searching again for ideas.
This is the front elevation of the original house plans.
So we thought maybe we could go with all board and batten.

| This particular one is a timber frame home, and the entire house is really cool! |
I decided to trace our front elevation and draw in the board and batten to get an idea of what it might look like.

| We really like it! |
We are planning on doing a metal roof and so it will give it more of a barn-style feel. Like the picture second to last of the ideas. We aren't 100% sure on the paint color. I have some samples painted on a couple pieces of siding. But once we trim out the outside I'll paint a section to see if we like it.
We're liking how it's all coming together.
